A powerful third-quarter performance helped the ACUVUE Sydney Uni Flames to a 90-78 victory over the Bulleen Boomers in the Women's National League Basketball clash at the Veneto Club, Melbourne on Friday night.

It was the second time the Flames have triumphed over the Boomers this season, having also won their round two clash 75-71.

The first two quarters were tightly balanced, leaving the scores level at 41-a-piece at half-time.

But the Flames moved up a gear in the third period, taking the game to the Boomers and moving to an unassailable 15-point lead going into the final term.

Superior shooting was a notable feature of the win, particularly from three-point range. The Flames sunk 14 three-pointers, with Bulleen only managing six.

Nat Porter was the key performer for the Flames with 29 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. It continues a remarkable season for Porter, who currently averages a league-high 23.9 points per game.

Michelle Musselwhite also impressed with 18 points, as did Mikaela Dombkins, who netted 17.

The Flames will be hoping to avenge last week's loss to Bendigo when they host the Spirit at the Sydney University Sports and Aquatic Centre this Friday night. Tip-off at 8pm.

ACUVUE Sydney University Flames 90 (Natalie Porter 29, Michelle Musselwhite 18, Mikaela Dombkins 17) d Bulleen Melbourne Boomers 78 (Emma Randall 18).
