Sydney Uni celebrated ladies day as they hosted the North Shore Bombers on Saturday in the FOXTEL Sydney AFL premier division. The students looked to extend their good run over the past month and finish the final two games of the season on a high.

The students carried in the good form from the week before against Western Suburbs in the first quarter. The students were winning the battle of the midfield and starving North Shore of possession. Michael Healy dominated the first quarter taking some great marks and kicking two goals.

The positive start was continued in the second quarter with the students matching it with the bombers and went into half time leading by 1 point. Sydney Uni deserved the half time lead working themselves into better positions to shoot at goal and being rewarded with accurate kicking from the forwards.

The students came out after half time knowing that one side was going to lift more, unfortunately the Bombers were able to capitalize on their opportunities in the second half eventually running away with a comfortable victory. Injuries to key players Daniel Archer and Matt Wakelin made the second half difficult for the students. The best players on the day were Damien Hoo who continues his good run of form, Andrew Kraefft, Michael Healy, Janis Blums and Ben Mankarious who continues to find the football in the midfield.

Ladies Day was a great success with 500 people through the gates enjoying football, drinks and music. The day raised $1300 for prostate cancer.

The students will be hoping to finish off the season with a win this weekend against the Balmain Dockers. Last time the teams met the students came away comfortable winners, however Balmain will be keen to register their first win of the season. The game will be held at Sydney Uni no. 1 oval on Saturday at 2 pm.
