Sydney Uni hosted the Balmain Dockers at Sydney Uni Oval No. 1 on Saturday in the last game of the FOXTEL Sydney AFL Premier Division home and away season. After a promising return to the Premier Division this year, the Students continued their good form in the second half of the season with a 6 goal win.

With the Dockers yet to record a win for the year and the Students looking to take momentum into next season, there was plenty to play for, and a tight first quarter was proof of that. The second quarter was also tight, but the Students managed to extend their lead into half time to 2 goals.
In the second half the Students stepped up their game, outclassing the Dockers all over the ground. With accurate kicking form the forward line and tight defence, Sydney Uni finished the season strongly, recording a 6 goal win.
For Sydney Uni Chris McLachlan and James Terry were the best with Ben Malone and Andrew Kreafft also playing well. The win capped off a promising first season in the Premier Division for the Students who finished with 4 wins from their last 7 games, building a solid foundation for next year.
It was also a good weekend for the Sydney Uni Women’s AFL team who won their grand final against the Newtown Breakaways at Wagener Oval.
With the home and away season over, the finals series gets under way this weekend with the Sydney Uni Reserve grade playing the St George Crows at Henson Park on Sunday 2nd September beginning at 12.15 pm.
