Sydney Uni returned to Henson Park for the second week in a row on Saturday to fight it out against the top of the ladder St George Crows in the FOXTEL Sydney AFL Premier Division. With a depleted list due to injuries, the Students fought hard but came up short at the final siren.
The Students got away to a good start under lights, kicking the first two goals of the game and dominating possession. However, St George recovered to take a 19 point lead into quarter time.
The second quarter started much like the first, with the Students kicking an early goal thanks to midfield clearances, with captain Joel Carr leading the way. Sydney Uni won the quarter, but still trailed at half time by 14 points.
The Students couldn’t maintain the same intensity after half time, with St George kicking 8 goals to 2, securing an 8 goal win. Sydney Uni’s best players on the night were James Terry and Ben Fitzpatrick, with Michael Healy kicking 2 goals.
The game will be replayed on FOXTEL Aurora Channel 183 at 8.30 pm on Wednesday. Sydney Uni’s next game is against the Western Suburb Magpies at Wagener Oval on Saturday 14th July at 2pm.
